Information We Collect
We collect different categories of information depending on how you interact with the platform.
Account Information
When you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed authentication credential. If you sign in through a third-party provider (e.g., Google or GitHub), we receive a limited profile — typically your name and email — from that provider.
Usage & Analytics Data
We may collect anonymized usage statistics such as pages visited, features used, and general geographic region. This helps us understand which parts of the platform are most valuable and where to focus improvements.
Device & Browser Information
Standard web server logs may capture your IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URL. These logs are used for security monitoring and are not linked to your account identity.
How We Store Your Data
Server-Side Storage
Account credentials and price data are stored in a managed PostgreSQL database with industry-standard security controls. All connections use TLS encryption in transit, and data is encrypted at rest. Our infrastructure providers comply with SOC 2 Type II standards.
Client-Side Storage
Your display preferences — theme selection, default currency, weight unit, chart timeframe, ticker visibility, and sidebar state — are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
What stays in your browser
Cookies & Local Storage
We use a combination of cookies and browser local storage to operate the site. Here is what each category does:
Authentication session tokens and CSRF protection cookies are required for the site to function. These cannot be disabled. Local storage keys for your UI preferences also fall into this category.
We may use privacy-focused analytics tools to understand traffic patterns and feature adoption. These cookies do not track you across other websites and do not store personally identifiable information.

- Market Data Provider — supplies spot and historical metal prices. No user data is shared with this service; all API calls originate from our server, not your browser.
- Hosting Provider — hosts the application and executes serverless functions. This provider may process access logs containing IP addresses.
- Ad Networks — if ads are present, advertising providers may collect browsing data per their own policies. You can opt out via the links in the section below.
How We Use Your Information
Information we collect is used strictly to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your session
- Store and display your preferences across devices
- Deliver metal price data in your preferred currency and unit
- Improve site performance and fix bugs through aggregated analytics
- Send transactional emails (e.g., password reset) — we do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in
- Comply with legal obligations if required
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
Advertising & Opting Out

Client-side local storage data persists until you clear your browser data or use the "Reset All" option on the Settings page.
